We recently attended the newly opened exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Art The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk.  I have been in high anticipation of the show for quite some time, and I must say with talking mannequins, a moving runway, videos, and music, it's well worth the visit.  One quick note to remember if you attend, the streets and bridges that cross over to the DMA are largely under construction so detouring may be part of the drive.  If you enter sort of from the back side, you can have direct access to the parking garage.  Once inside, you enter the exhibit with a welcoming from Jean Paul himself (talking mannequin in striped sailor top of course) and wander through various rooms divided into different stages throughout his expansive career - the boudoir phase, the androgynous phase, the punk phase, etc.  The clothes range from street wear to full on costumes but all are detailed and interesting.

Completing the tour, we were in the mood for ice cream so we made our way to our favorite little Sunday milkshake stop where we reflected on our day's experience and just how much we love individuality and fashion.  The exhibit runs through February 12, 2012 - dallasmuseumofart.org.
